Please call the office at 732-398-5171 to schedule an appointment.
If you have questions or are unsure if Shakuju Therapy is right for you, please consider contacting me for a free consultation, available via telephone. This also allows me to learn more about your symptoms and assess whether SJT is a good fit for you.

Appointments and Scheduling
Treatments are by appointment only. Last-minute appointments are available if there is time in the schedule. Please call. Treatments typically last between 45 minutes and 1 hour.
Please be on time for appointments. Unfortunately, because schedules are often tight, your treatment time may be shortened if you arrive late.
Please call to reschedule your appointment if you develop a cough, fever, or shortness of breath. Contact a physician. In these circumstances, a cancellation fee will not apply.
Before your appointment, please take the time to fill out the required paperwork and read the privacy policy.

What to expect
We will begin your first appointment with a thorough review of your health history and the symptoms you are experiencing. Please fill out your paperwork completely – even minor details may be clinically significant. The purpose of our discussion is to get a complete picture of what is happening in your body.
The second half of your visit consists of your treatment. Relaxation is important during your treatment as you will be asked to verify changes in any painful and/or tight areas that are found during your treatment. These “reference” points indicate the overall condition of your body and help me evaluate your body’s response to treatment. Sterile, disposable acupuncture needles and moxa, a topical warming herb, may be included.
How to prepare for your visit
Please arrive to your appointment a few minutes early so you have time to relax yourself. Avoid drinking coffee the day of your treatment, and eat some protein an hour or so before your arrival. Wear comfortable clothing, as I need to access your limbs, abdomen, and back to treat you properly.
After your treatment
In addition to receiving acupuncture treatment, your lifestyle and routine are important to your healing process. After treatments:
- Keep hydrated with warm or room-temperature fluids. Refrain from cold drinks and alcohol. Do not eat too much.
- Avoid strenuous exercise, sexual activity, swimming or bathing (showers are OK) until the following day.
- Plan on going to bed reasonably early so your body can rest and absorb the treatment
Because Shakuju Therapy is resetting your body, you may experience uncomfortable sensations after your treatment. Though not everyone experiences them, these can be part of the healing process, and generally settle down within 24 hours. Please note any observable changes you experience between treatments, whether subtle or obvious, and report them at your next visit.
